I was 29 years old at the time and was not making more than $5.50 per hour unloading semi-trucks eight hours a day. I roomed at a friends house, drove a rusted out Cutlass and barely had enough money to afford a couple of beers at the end of a hard week of work!
Like most people, I was struggling.
I wanted a better life and a higher income but I only had a grade 12 education and no other skills. I couldnt afford to go to college on $5.50 per hour and I couldnt afford to give up my entry level job either.
I was trapped!

Fortunately for me, I had a good friend who was already working in this industry. As fate would have it, his place of employment had an opening for high paying entry level jobs in this position. I knew he had learned this trade from years of trial and error and was now one of the top in his field. I quickly called him up and begged him to SHOW ME EVERYTHING HE KNEW!
He said he would and then he revealed how much money he was making on a DAILY basis.
I was floored!!!!!!
As soon as I learned how much money I could make in this industry, I immediately decided to do whatever it took to learn these life changing skills.
When I arrived to apply for the job, I was introduced to the person in charge of this function. After an informal greeting, he showed me the company's equipment. He then let me perform the function for about a half an hour. It truly was really easy, simple work and actually very repetitious.
He then said he didn’t feel like working that night. He had already covered the last three nightshifts for another employee who was too lazy to work that weekend. That person was subsequently fired for not showing up. My new co-worker told me that the work shift lasted 7 hours and if I wanted too, I could start immediately!
